Setting Goals vs. Achieving Goals

The process of setting goals is really not that hard. People do it all the time. They think about what they want and sometimes even write it down, and that is usually where it stops.

The key to the kingdom is learning how to set goals and achieve those goals (I call it the Dynamic Duo!). It’s just that most have not taken the time to learn how to combine the two.

You’re not going to be able to achieve your goals without setting them first.

 

SMART Goals

S – Specific: Your Goal

M – Meaningful: Your Feelings

A – Action-Oriented: Action Taken

R – Rewarding: Does it help others?

T – Time-Sensitive: Dates to Achieve

Specific

What exactly do you want to achieve?

This is the first step in setting and achieving your goal. So many people set goals they feel they can reach versus setting a goal that they truly want. There is a big difference.

The goal itself has to scare you and excite you at the same time or it’s simply not big enough. Remember we only get one bite of the apple …… make it a BIG bite!

Be clear on what you want, but do not get caught up in the HOW when you’re starting out. That will lead to feeling overwhelmed and you will go back into safety.

 

Meaningful

Get emotionally involved with your goal. The more positive emotion your goal makes you feel, the more likely you will follow through when you hit roadblocks. That emotion will carry you through to the end if you follow it.

Own it. Feel what it’s like to already have it. Your sub-conscious mind can do amazing things for us if we learn how to tap into it for positive things

Attitude of Gratitude will take you a long way when you start to use it on a consistent basis. Being truly grateful helps you stay in a positive vibration. When your vibration is positive, it is much easier to successfully visualize your goal.

 

Action-Oriented

Action is a must! Without it you are just dreaming. Once you take action you will start to raise your vibration which will keep you in the fearless state. When you are taking clear precise action you don’t have time to get caught up in “why it won’t happen.” You are too busy making things HAPPEN, and moving closer to your goal.

 

Rewarding

Your goal needs to mean something to you. You must create VALUE!  That is a major key to setting and achieving large rewarding goals. The more value you deliver, the higher your vibration.

It needs to be what you think about when you wake up in the morning and throughout your day and before you go to bed so your sub-conscious will take it in and make the magic happen. It needs to be what I call your Healthy Obsession in your life.

When you really want something, and you understand the laws that govern us, you will keep going no matter what. Nothing will stop you. It’s really the only way to achieve something that scares you and excites you at the same time.

 

Time Sensitive

In order to stay on track and have a clear decisive direction, you must put dates and times on your steps to reach your goal. Without them you will feel like a buoy in the ocean, just moving around and around and not making any progress.

That is exactly why successful people create a business plan before they start a business. There really is no difference; this is your life/business plan. Set yourself up for success.

When you have certain dates, you will feel a sense of obligation and therefore be more likely to keep moving forward. That is also why the most successful people in business and sports have success coaches. You need to be held accountable for all the small steps in order to get to the final big one.
